- Hierarchy of Controls
The "Hierarchy of Controls" describes a descending order of "rigour" in controlling hazards. Whilst there is some variation
across jurisdictions, the essential order of controls (from most to least rigorous) is "Elimination" of the hazard, "Substitution" with another product or process, "Isolation" of the hazard ,"Engineering" controls, "Administrative" controls (such as training, procedures, instruction etc) and "PPE" (Personal Protective Equipment).
